"Burning Bridge is an experience, not representation" - with these words on the website of Jason Kao Hwang was presented to the board Burning Bridge. Actually, citing the words of this review would be over. Could, in principle, only from each other to add that I recommend as soon as possible to familiarize with the material, experience it with my own ears. I could not take the time to readers that they could better use to listening to the Burning Bridge ... There are not so easy.

Jason Kao Hwang is not overly popular musicians. It is at least a euphemism, but still. Violinist and composer of Chinese origin lived in what is true in the pages Jazzarium.pl deserved recognition, but at least the Polish Internet does not seem to notice the phenomenon, and certainly in the case of JKH the phenomenon we have to deal with. Undoubtedly modest fame in our country has brought musicians tour in Poland, which does not change the fact that the review that you are reading (and so marked by a few months later than the release) is probably the first text in Polish with Burning Bridge, which-at least on the Internet - has been published. Cherish, therefore, the gravity of the situation.

The gravity will be even greater when I start meandering delve into a description of the release. From the beginning. For review of the material from a burning bridge, approached with enough enthusiasm are late. The album is literally filled to the brim with music, it takes more than 70 minutes, and the shortest of the five songs over 10 minutes. For reasons of pure zabieganej prose of life is often difficult to find the time to save up for so long, centered association of recorded music ... Luckily I did and I must admit that I have not heard so intense, thoughtful and dotted with unconventional ideas sounds. Thus, the potential loss of time, was a fascinating experience, which I encourage all readers.

Burning Bridge is the "experience" for at least two reasons. Firstly, it is the music so rich, smart and formal thought it hard to transpose into another system of meaning. In other words, although I would be at this time endeavored to dense, written analysis of each composition, it would especially make sense as it would give only a minor part in a thousand of which were included on the album, if at all, he gave me something ... Moreover Burning Bridge is my experience understood as an experiment. Experiment fusion of two musical sensibility, a synthesis of what is most interesting in strictly jazz and oriental wealth of inspiration.

The band plays on the album is an extension of the core team Kao Hwang - Edge. As a result, the Burning Bridge listener associates with an eight fantastic instrumentalists under the leadership of violinist indivisible. The composition is a conglomeration of both musicians and instruments of different cultural provenance. In addition to violin, horn, and bass therefore hear the erhu - Chinese stringed instrument, and the Chinese lute called the pipa. There are undoubtedly elements of stamping its mark on the structure of sonic whole record.

Jason Kao Hwang is a composer and all manner of music, specifically jazz side projects, has to his credit, for example, the opera The Floating Box: A Story in Chinatown. Experience in coordinating a larger number of musicians, gained in various fields of musical activity is perfectly audible on the album Burning Bridge. Octet, which next leader and team Edge occurred excellent trombonist Steve Swell, and Sun Li, Wang Guowei and Joseph Daley, was led by Kao Hwang with the incredible precision and attention to niezakrzyczenie the individual musicians. That in itself is worthy of appreciation when we add to the team and the precision craftsmanship, multi-dimensional compositions, each individual is a fascinating musical story, then we are dealing with a very good album.

Burning Bridge as the strength of the experiment is that the experiment is successful. Hwang Kao and colleagues were able to synthesize the language of jazz and Eastern inspiration in one, the original means of expression. It's hard when you listen to the disc extract moments when playing with an oriental flavor turns into jazz and vice versa. Of course, the color of the individual recordings to force categorize within the smaller components of the composition, but I think it is doomed to fail. This is not an album let's say Texan, who notes that record the album with the music of Aboriginal ... The compositions were born with sensitive music for the musical legacy of sensitivity is natural. It is here upatrywa?bym unusual source, a relaxed consistency sounds contained on Burning Bridge. Album is undoubtedly a kind of extended musical tale, each track has been designed taking into account the personal drama, and subsequent attempts to read the complicated structure of the composition, make contact with the music doubly rewarding. Performances of individual instrumentalists leave the country listening. I assure you that in the form of music are far more charm than as text. Jason Kao Hwang burned the bridge between language release jazz and east. Bridge has become unnecessary because the two styles merged into one, the original speech are not on either side, but rather standing together on a common edge (Edge!) music media. If it was the ambition of the violinist, is in my opinion a great success.

Why, then, the album, which just does not issue a stint icing only four stars? The problem is still the length of recording. While Burning Bridge is an essential album really, I am convinced that in favor of publishing wysz?oby concentration of musical content for hours. The paradox, however, is that it would be extremely hard to select the design elements unnecessary ... Either way - I give the disc Jason Kao Hwang's four mighty star, and I am sure that many readers after contact with the material without hesitation throw in his, fifth. I invite all to enter the burning bridge and experience with my own ears the flames of the music. May it be an opportunity zaznania them!

Docecie zatem powag sytuacji.

Powaga bdzie jeszcze wiksza, gdy zaczn meandrycznie zagbia si  opis samego wydawnictwa. Od pocztku. Do zrecenzowania materiau z Pal?cego si Mostu, podchodziem z do opiesza?ym entuzjazmem.

Obok skrzypiec, tuby, czy kontrabasu usyszymy zatem erhu – chi?ski instrument smyczkowy, a take chisk lutni o nazwie pipa.

The Floating Box: A Story In Chinatown.

Kao Hwang’owi i kolego udao si zsyntezowa jzyk jazzu i wschodnich inspiracji w jeden, oryginalny ?=rodek wyrazu. Album bez wtpienia jest rodzajem rozbudowanej muzycznej opowie?ci, kady z utworów zosta? skonstruowany z uwzgl?dnieniem indywidualnej dramaturgii, a kolejne próby odczytywania skomplikowanych struktur kompozycji, czyni obcowanie z t muzyk podwójnie satysfakcjonujcym. Popisy poszczególnych instrumentalistów pozostawiam do pastwa odsuchu. Zapewniam, e w formie muzycznej maj dalece wi?kszy urok ni w postaci tekstu. Jason Kao Hwang spali tym wydawnictwem most cz?cy jzyk jazzu i muzyki wschodu. Most sta si? niepotrzebny, poniewa obie stylistyki zczyysi w jedn?, oryginaln? wypowied, nie s? na dwóch przeciwlegych brzegach, a raczej stoj razem na wspólnej krawdzi (Edge!) muzycznego przekazu. Je?li o byo ambicj skrzypka, to wedug mnie odniós du?y sukces.
