JASON KAO HWANG/Edge: This downtown cat is practically a genre unto himself as he take s his Korean inspired jazz and lets it lead where it will. Working this time out with a quartet, this is a full on version of shape shifting cross-cultural jazz as opposed to world jazz. With an educator’s eye on the music but a groover’s ear to the sound, Hwang and his crew add yet another chapter to his diverse discography that never fails to amaze. (Innova)
